Starting January 1, 2026, the collection of recyclable material in our Blue and Black bins will be the responsibility of the Ontario’s enhanced recycling system (Circular Materials). This program means that wherever you are in Ontario, what goes in the Blue bin and the Black bin will be the same, so that recycling in Ontario is better co-ordinated.
The City of Ottawa will still collect garbage, yard waste and the Green bin. The days you put out garbage and bins will most likely remain the same — however, the pick-up times may change.
