The City has released their Official Plan Zoning Review Proposal (PDF, 600Kb)The public comment period is open until August 15, 2014. This is part of a City-wide Zoning Review being conducted to update current zoning to reflect the City’s Official Plan, which was passed by Council in November 2013.  General information about the Zoning Review can be viewed here. {webpage no longer exists.}

The Official Plan designates Merivale Road north (between Carling and Caldwell) as a Traditional Mainstreet” (TM) and Carling Avenue as an “Arterial Mainstreet” (AM).  These are both mixed-use zoning designations that permit a broad range of uses including retail, service commercial, office, residential and institutional uses.

The Zoning Review is proposing a number of zoning changes along Merivale and Carling. In some cases, adjustments are being made to existing AM or TM zonings. In other cases,properties currently zoned as Residential are proposed to be rezoned to TM or AM.

Detailed maps of the proposed zoning changes can be downloaded here {webpage no longer exists.} (see “Merivale North Mainstreet” Map and “Carling Avenue Arterial Mainstreet – Map 4”). On these maps you can see specifically which properties are affected.

The CCA has prepared a Primer (PDF, 100Kb) to help Carlington residents understand how this zoning review will affect them and their community. If you require more detail, have specific questions or wish to submit a comment please contact the City Planners in charge of these two files:
