St. Elias Centre – Riverside Room, 750 Ridgewood Ave  Ottawa, ON K1V 6N1

Parking is available onsite or by transit you can take the 87 bus to the Ridgewood and Riverside stop

Registration begins at 12:00 p.m.   The consultation will run from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Refreshments will be provided.

Please RSVP to this invitation no later than Thursday, August 22, 2013 to Sara Rezaee at, and please let us know if you require any accommodation to participate.

The government is committed to hearing from as many Ontarians as possible as they work to renew the Poverty Reduction Strategy. If you are unable to attend, you may also provide your input on this important discussion by visiting

We hope to see you on Monday, August 26th and hear your ideas on how we can work together to break the cycle of poverty and increase opportunities for all Ontarians.

An Invitation from Habitat for Humanity NCR – ‘ReNew It’ Loan Program for Homeowners

August 13th, 2013 Comments off

The ReNew It program is a repair and renovation program for low-income homeowners who reside in their own homes.  The repair/renovation must address a health and safety deficiency in the home and/or accessibility requirements.

A Renew It project can cover up to $10,000 in home repairs/renovations.  While the homeowner must repay the cost of the repairs/renovations to Habitat NCR, the loan is interest-free, geared to income and typically repaid over a five-year period.

The homeowner must be willing to partner with Habitat NCR, including completing an appropriate amount of volunteer time.  This could include participating in the repairs.  To qualify you must possess or be willing to acquire home insurance.  You should also be willing to work with the Habitat NCR team.

If you feel that you or someone you know qualifies for a Renew It project, we invite you to go to the Habitat NCR website to download the application form.
