Merivale North Community Design Plan – Draft

A full draft of the CDP along with other information regarding the study process is available for review and comments on the project webpage.

Please provide any comments that you may have to the project lead (noted below) by email or by telephone on or before March 19, 2018. 

Your comments will help inform preparation of the final draft of the CDP and related zoning by-law amendments to be presented for approval this spring to Planning Committee and Council.

Civic Hospital Information Session January 31st

On January 31 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lansdowne Park Horticulture Building,

The Ottawa Hospital will host a public information session to present an update on hospital services planned for the new campus and the background journey to an architectural design concept.

The draft architectural concept will demonstrate the landscape influences behind how the buildings could be placed on the Sir John Carling site. The session will also update on a Community Engagement Group which will work closely with the hospital’s Board of Governors on range of issues such as access, parking, greenspace and design.

Updated Travelodge Proposal

The updated Travelodge redevelopment design is now posted online.

Elements in the new submission include:

  • Introduction of a public park along the Meath Street frontage.
  • Rear amenity areas for Buildings D and E (as opposed to a parking lot previously proposed) and a public pathway connecting the public park to Archibald Street.
  • Activated street frontage with at-grade units along Archibald Street.
  • Traffic calming measures along both Meath and Archibald Streets to ensure the one-way directions are respected.
  • 3 storey podium closest to the residential along Thames Street, rising to 8 storeys.

Potential Development at 966-974 Fisher Ave. Open House

Our Councillor Riley Brockington is hosting an open house regarding a potential development at 966-974 Fisher Avenue.

The owner plans to demolish three existing houses and replace them with two apartment buildings.

To do so the properties have to be rezoned from R2 to R4.

The public meeting will take place on Tuesday, December
5 at the Alexander Community Centre, 960 Silver Street.
The meeting will begin with an open house at 7:00pm with
a presentation and Q and A to follow at approximately

Kingston Avenue Development Application

The City of Ottawa has received the application for 10 houses along Kingston Avenue. Beside the proposed inconsistent zoning in relation to the neighbourhood our main concern is that the vacant property is in a flood prone area.

Ottawa Civic Hospital Zoning Meeting

The City of Ottawa Planning Department is hosting a public meeting to discuss the Official Plan and Zoning Amendment Proposals for the new Ottawa Civic Hospital location at 930 Carling Avenue and 520 Preston Street.

The public meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 25 at the Alexander Community Centre, 960 Silver Street.

An Open House will begin at 6:30pm with a presentation and Q&A to follow. All residents interested in learning more about the land use amendment are invited to attend the public meeting. 

If you are unable to attend the meeting, residents are able to view all associated documents with the planning application by visiting and searching for 930 Carling or 520 Preston in the file search tool.
