The Glad Fall Cleanup

August 24th, 2018 Comments off

"Have you ever wondered how our parks remain so clean?  The Glad Fall Cleanup is just around the corner and Carlington parks need volunteers do to a bit of raking, a bit of filling in leaf bags, and lots of community socializing.  This is the 25th year of the campaign!

Alexander and Meadowvale parks are scheduled for Saturday, September 29th, 2018, 10am-12 with a rain date on Sunday.  More parks will likely be registered so updates will follow.  If you are interested, please contact

Parks are not the only focus of the Cleaning the Capital campaign - you can register for your own project too.  For more information, check out the Glad Cleaning the Capital website."

Alexander Park Playground Preliminary Consultation

July 22nd, 2018 Comments off

The City of Ottawa is commencing preliminary consultation on park improvements for Alexander Park at 960 Silver Street.

Consultation and design will take place in 2018 and construction is proposed for 2019.

There is no intention of removing the existing playground components at this time and in order to retain land for a possible building expansion in the future; any new equipment is proposed to be located in the northeast portion of the park as shown in yellow in the aerial photo.

Please take a few minutes to complete a survey regarding park improvements. The City will be taking the survey results into consideration during the planning and design process for the park. Further public consultation will be led by Councillor Brockington and will occur after concept plans and illustrations have been prepared for the park (likely in November or December 2018).

The on-line survey may be completed up until July 31, 2018 and is available at Alexander Park Survey

If you would prefer a paper copy of the survey or if you have specific comments or questions regarding the proposed park, please contact:

Carlington Community Association Grant

July 17th, 2018 Comments off

Do you have an idea for a community project, event, or workshop? Apply now for funding to help build a greener, safer, better Carlington. Application deadline is August 31

Who is eligible to apply for the grant?

Anyone is eligible to apply for the CCA Grant. However, only projects that take place within Carlington, or benefit the residents of the community will be considered.

How much funding is available?

In 2018, there is a total of $2,000 available for the grant. Applicants may apply for any amount up to this limit.

Can I apply for more than one project?

Applicants may apply for as many projects as they wish. Multiple small projects may be included in one submission, however, in this case they will be considered together as one single application.

When should I apply?

The grant applications are open from July 1, 2018 to August 31, 2018.

How do I apply?

Applications will be accepted through the online form, by email, or by paper copy delivered to the CCA.

When will the successful proposals be announced?

The applications selected for funding will be announced at the CCA’s fall general meeting on September 12th, 2018.

What happens if my application is successful?

Successful applicants will be required to sign an agreement with the CCA. The agreement will include the expectations and responsibilities of both parties with regards to: reimbursement, project implementation, reporting, and evaluation.

Does my project have to be completed before April 30th, 2019 (CCA year-end)?

Ideally, projects will be implemented within 1 year of the grant being awarded. However, alternative schedules may be considered on a case by case basis.
