Want to be the change in our Community? Join the CCA Board of Directors!

May 11th, 2017 Comments off

Each year the Carlington Community Association elects new members to its 9-person Board of Directors. These positions are voluntary, but are an amazing opportunity to influence the evolution and direction of our neighbourhood, as well as to take a leadership role in the many critical issues that our community is presented with on an annual basis.

While the Board positions come with flexibility, they also present a remarkable opportunity. The CCA works closely with the City of Ottawa, local stakeholders, residents, and local businesses to address community safety concerns; influence the design and development of new buildings, roadways, and resources; and encourage the promotion of Carlington as a vibrant community deserving of support.

The Board of Directors is responsible for managing the CCA budget, promoting community activities and opportunities, responding to issues of concern as they emerge, and negotiating closely with City of Ottawa staff on a variety of topics. Members of the Board are expected to attend monthly meetings and participate in decision making, but are also afforded tremendous flexibility in pursuing specific projects that benefit the community in some way (including greening, community safety, arts, development, and partnership building).

The goal of the CCA is to strengthen CONNECTIONS within our great community, amongst neighbours, across boundaries, and in support of safe and progressive Carlington.

This is a great opportunity to be active and engaged in your community, to bolster your CV and work experience, and to network closely with a variety of key stakeholders throughout the city.

You can be part of making Carlington great by standing for election to an open position on our Board at the CCA Annual General Meeting on May 24 (7-9pm, Alexander Community Centre). Feel free to contact to put your name forward or with any questions!

Thank you!
