The CCA Greening Committee met again this Saturday for a cleanup in Alexander Park. Plants donated from the CCA's annual Yard & Plant Sale were planted in the park in June. Volunteers are meeting every two weeks through the summer to keep up the newly planted beds and help keep the park clean.
Volunteers also met in June to clean one thousand donated tulip bulbs from the National Capital Commission. This is the second year the CCA has received a bulb donation. Pictures from the first year of the Carlington Tulip Initiative can be seen in the gallery:
Two weeks ago we had two volunteers meet to pick garbage and trim trees at the Merivale entrance to the park. This week one volunteer was on hand to weed, rake and water the beds. Come out and spare thirty minutes if you can. It goes quickly with more than one person! The next greening committee meeting is Saturday, July 27 at 9:30am in Alex Park.
