Learn about proposed changes to the CCHC site at 900 Merivale Road.
Come learn about a new local low-income seniors health and housing project proposed for the site of the Carlington Community Health Centre (CCHC) at 900 Merivale Road.
Join us on Monday January 28th as we host Michael Birmingham, Executive Director, CCHC and Joanne Poirier, Executive Director, Ottawa Community Housing to hear the latest about this proposal and what it means for your community.
The seniors health and housing project is a $14.5 million joint proposal between Carlington Community Health Centre (CCHC) and Ottawa Community Housing Corporation (OCHC) to construct up to 70 apartments for low-income seniors above an expanded primary care clinic and social services hub at the existing CCHC site at 900 Merivale Road.
In order to make room for the new facilities, the project will grow the community health centre beyond its existing footprint. This will require displacing a section of CCHC’s community garden space; a valued piece of Carlington’s social fabric.
Michael and Joanne have kindly agreed to explain the proposal, address concerns and take your questions and feedback. Don't miss this opportunity to help shape the future of your community.

From the start, the Carlington Cup has always been about more than putting on a hockey tournament. It's about celebrating Carlington and about bringing people together in the dead of winter to meet their neighbours, share a cup of something warm and make the most of our community.
One of the ways we're doing that this year is through a slate of heritage hockey sweaters inspired by Carlington's streets. Algonquin design student Chris Mantil has done an incredible job coming up with these amazing designs. His sweaters harken back to a simpler time before lockouts and million dollar sports marketing. The feeling behind these jerseys recalls the same time when returning WWII vets were building up our community and starting a new life at home in Canada. We're pretty excited to see how they look on the ice!
All 12 teams registered for this year's Carlington Cup Neighbourhood Shinny Hockey Tournament will be assigned a team name based on a different street in our community. We'll even have real jerseys for each team!
Come join us this Saturday and cheer on your street!
