Official Plan Amendment re: Wireless Communication Facilities.

I am writing to advise you that the Planning and Growth Management Department has initiated an Official Plan Amendment for the purpose of deleting redundant provisions regarding Wireless Communication Facilities from the Official Plan (Section 3.1 Generally Permitted Uses), and to replace them with a reference to the proposed Municipal Concurrence and Public Consultation Process for Antenna Systems. Carling Avenue Watermain – Construction Updates: Saturday September 24, 2011.

Hello everyone:

The Carling Avenue watermain replacement is an important project for our community.  The new watermain will deliver safe drinking water to more than 400,000 residents and the ancillary projects will replace old sanitary and storm sewers in the local area.  Additionally, Carling Avenue will see significant landscaping and pedestrian and cycling improvements.  However, this project is also a disruptive one. Closure of 417 eastbound off ramp happens Monday.

City staff have confirmed that the Carling Avenue off-ramp will close in the early morning on Monday September 26, 2011, prior to the morning rush hour.

The City will provide more info on the City’s website, via Twitter, public service announcements and signs placed on the eastbound 417 between Pinecrest Road and Maitland Avenue.  Detour signs will also be posted to direct traffic to the Maitland Avenue off-ramp to access Carling Avenue.  Please adjust your route as you can expect delays.

417 EASTBOUND CARLING AVENUE RAMP CLOSURE – Week of September 26, 2011

Further to my previous message, as part of the Carling Avenue and Merivale Road Reconstruction Project, it is necessary to close the Highway 417 Eastbound Carling Avenue off ramp to permit the installation of a large diameter watermain. This watermain is vital to the City of Ottawa’s water distribution system, as it serves over 400,000 residents and must be relocated prior to additional bridge replacement work planned for the 417 at Carling Avenue and Merivale Road.  The off ramp will close during the week of Monday September 26, 2011 and will remain closed for a period of ten weeks, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
